Another quiet-ish week as the focus in Parliament turns to yet another Brexit vote. Theresa May will update MPs on negotiations on Tuesday. An amendable motion follows on Wednesday afternoon, with voting at around 7pm.
Also on Tuesday is the fifth and final Estimates Day of the parliamentary year, where MPs debate spending forecasts for different departments. This time it’s Education and Work and Pensions.
Monday 4th March
Financial Services (Implementation of Legislation) Bill – report stage and 3rd reading
Applies to: England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland
Allows the government to implement EU financial services legislation for two years after a no-deal Brexit without consulting Parliament. This happens at the moment, but if the withdrawal agreement isn’t ratified, the government would have to use primary legislation(putting each law in front of Parliament). It’s important because most financial services regulations are made at EU level. Started in the Lords.

Tuesday 5th March
Hereditary Titles (Female Succession) Bill
Allows women to inherit hereditary titles. Ten minute rule motion presented by Philip Davies.
Northern Ireland Budget (Anticipation and Adjustment) (No. 2) Bill – all stages
Applies to: Northern Ireland
Authorises the Northern Ireland budget. Usually this would be done by the local government in Belfast, but it collapsed in January 2017, so Westminster is stepping in.

Wednesday 6th March
Charity Trustees (Time Off for Duties) Bill
Amends the Employment Rights Act 1996 to give charity trustees the right to time off work for duties related to their position. Trustees are currently not among the professions entitled to “reasonable” time off to perform their duties. Ten minute rule motion presented by Susan Elan Jones. Read more in Third Sector.
Northern Ireland Regional Rates and Energy (No. 2) Bill – all stages
Applies to: Northern Ireland
Decides the regional rate in Northern Ireland for the year ending 31 March 2019.
